Wireless Sync Technical Requirements

Wireless Sync can be configured in several different ways, depending on the type of email you wish to access and whether or not you are able to leave your PC continuously on.
POP and IMAP Individual Users
POP users have two options for retrieving email:
  Email-only Sync

With this option users wirelessly receive only their email on their device. To receive PIM information (e.g., calendar, contacts, etc.) users must do a "cradle" or wired sync with their PC. With an email-only sync it is not necessary to leave your computer continuously on.
  Full Email/PIM Sync

With this option users wirelessly receive both email and PIM information on their devices. This option requires that the user's PC be continuously turned on with Outlook® running at all times.
IMAP users only have the option of email-only sync.
Requirements for POP and IMAP Access
To access your POP and/or IMAP email account for email-only and full email and PIM syncs you will need the following:
  • An account with an Internet Service Provider (e.g., Comcast®, AOL®, EarthLink®, etc.)*
  • Your email account information (i.e., username and password)
  • In some cases you may also need to know your POP and SMTP addresses
Your Internet Service Provider can provide you with this information.
Full email and PIM sync users will also need to have the following:
